Frances

I have facilitated art and crafts for over ten years in a supported art studio, a private pottery club, as an individual and now at Adelaide Art Room, a mixed media studio in the inner south western Adelaide metropolitan suburb of Edwardstown.

I curated the 2025 SALA exhibition; The Art Room; a group exhibition of thirteen artists which included paintings, ceramic, sculpture, installation, textiles and digital media.

My interests and experience include mixed media, drawing, painting, sculpture, pottery and metalsmithing.  I love experimenting and learning new techniques and materials and have a keen interest in ‘outsider’ art.

For eight years I worked as a proud team member and leader at Tutti Arts supported art studios at Brighton, assisting artists in building their careers, folios and goals.  I curated and co-curated several exhibitions of drawings and paintings for Tutti artists and applied for grants.

I graduated from UniSA with a Masters in Visual Art-Sculpture where I completed an undergrad glass casting course, and specialised in Jewellery and Metalsmithing in my undergraduate degree after a drawing and painting certificate at TAFE.

After completing my undergraduate degree I spent two years at Montsalvat Artists’ Colony in Eltham, Victoria, working with silver and goldsmiths Matcham Skipper, Myra Skipper and Simon Baigent.

While having dabbled in many disciplines of visual arts, I’ve exhibited only occasionally and could claim the title ‘non-prolific’ as a practicing artist.  My art career went on hiatus while the results are reflected in progeny.  I look forward to creating a body of work for a ‘Retro Debut’ solo exhibition.

Passionate about introducing the uninitiated to their creative selves, I believe that creativity is next to godliness, or at least a great way to stay buoyant in these times.

My areas of expertise include facilitation, advocacy, problem solving and being an excitable but dependable cog in the machinations of creative organisations.
